Kaisaido

Who is it for

Kaisaido adapts to every body and every age

Kaisaido does not require prior physical condition, martial experience, or a specific age. What it asks for is consistency and respect for the method. Everything else is built inside the dojo.

Children

The children's programme works coordination, rhythm, concentration, and respect. The Risum Kata — performed to Japanese music — help children integrate movement and attention naturally. It is not a self-defence programme: it is education through the body. The child learns to bow, to wait their turn, to execute a form with care, and to respect their partner.

Teenagers & Young Adults

The junior stage adds technical rigour and, above all, personal responsibility. The teenager begins to work bunkai with awareness of application, deepens in kata, and faces more demanding pre-arranged kumite. This is when discipline stops being adult-guided and becomes a practice the young person sustains themselves.

Adults

The adult programme is the most complete in Kaisaido: classical kata (Saifa, Seyunchin, Sanchin, Tensho and the advanced ones), kumite with protection, deep respiratory work and study of Kaisai. It is suitable both for those starting from scratch and for those coming from other traditions who seek a system with theory and method.

Senior Practitioners

The class structure — with Daruma Taiso at the start and Seiri Undo at the close — allows continued practice while caring for the body at any age. Many of our senior practitioners find this the richest period of their entire practice: the depth of understanding compensates for any reduction in physical intensity.

If you come from another martial art

If you come to Kaisaido from another tradition, you will find an ordered pedagogical system and a study of kata different from what you probably know. We recommend attending a trial class before any assessment: seeing for yourself how a class is structured and what is worked on is the only honest way to know if this practice suits you.
